One of my really good friend's daughter got married a few weeks ago. Years ago, when her kids were still little, I made her family some Christmas stockings. As she added to her family, I added new stockings for each one. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As her kids have gotten older and gotten married, I've made stockings as part of their wedding presents. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Her oldest son's stockings are <a href="http://www.tssimplecreations.blogspot.com/2014/05/patchwork-christmas-stockings.html" target="_blank">here</a>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So when I found out her oldest daughter was getting married, I started on the hunt for some new appliqued stocking patterns. I'm surprised by the lack of patterns around that matched what I wanted.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I ended up making soft muslin stockings with a red velvet cuff with white pom pom's hanging from the cuff. I've had the stockings made for weeks. But I was literally paralyzed by the appliques. I looked, and thought, and searched, and pondered. I couldn't decide what to do. I had lots of ideas but I wasn't in love with any of them.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Finally - I was out of time. I had to do something. I found these basic patterns and tweaked them to be similar to each other. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhC96sZnQRWz6BNws5TLprDmojWBal76IHnKM5E_qIyiqZjSYC_ZFxFkwSC25J4sGILL-SzzMm7iG9vNSATAvZH34nNlaL6zfBBYY-eKiOxOCrU_LcqVwQ6cKenExTPMP2Jwq_XQGxEkEbu/s1600/February+012.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhC96sZnQRWz6BNws5TLprDmojWBal76IHnKM5E_qIyiqZjSYC_ZFxFkwSC25J4sGILL-SzzMm7iG9vNSATAvZH34nNlaL6zfBBYY-eKiOxOCrU_LcqVwQ6cKenExTPMP2Jwq_XQGxEkEbu/s320/February+012.JPG" width="318" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div align="center">
I decided to do initials this time - which I've never done before. But I was worried about crushing the velvet with the iron. I actually quite like them this way.</div>
<div align="center">
On the Santa, I used a jingle bell for the tip of the hat, and some small red beads on the tree.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div align="center">
And for the angel, there are some tiny red seed beads on the crown. </div>

<div align="center">
I think they turned out pretty darn cute. </div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have some other similar applique patterns by the same designer for future stocking needs.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I hope they love them!</div>

I love making creative and fun Valentine's for my boys to give out to their friends at school. Each year they pick out the item (I like to go non-candy items if we can) they want to give out and we find a talented blogger who has made a free printable for us to use to go with it. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This year son #1 choose little Valentine rubber ducks and son #2 chose Valentine gliders. Both items came from Oriental Trading. Both ideas for the printables came from The Crafting Chicks. The airplane/glider printable is <a href="http://thecraftingchicks.com/you-make-my-heart-soar-airplane-valentine-free-printable/" target="_blank">HERE</a>. And the duck printable is <a href="http://thecraftingchicks.com/tag/duck-valentines/" target="_blank">HERE</a>. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I had some difficulty getting their printable files to download - and I was in a hurry to get them done - so I created some simple paper strips with the words on them myself. Cut them in to long strips - tie or staple them on, and boom, Valentines are done.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAbdHdTGoeAN10GC9vCOJsT5F7jE9ws0nw-vTm-pkoq4aWZ-7Z2JP1-__gLteoJlNG7LwZMVtq7WYecHnmxaG440huxoXffHNbsrk15L338xV_N6icvnPxDPZ7W9Hp22VGAgb1uVvlsvUk/s1600/February+007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="173" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAbdHdTGoeAN10GC9vCOJsT5F7jE9ws0nw-vTm-pkoq4aWZ-7Z2JP1-__gLteoJlNG7LwZMVtq7WYecHnmxaG440huxoXffHNbsrk15L338xV_N6icvnPxDPZ7W9Hp22VGAgb1uVvlsvUk/s320/February+007.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div align="center">
For boxes to take to school, son #1 chose to re-use his Football box from last year. It was a classic and I was very happy not to have to make another new one for him this year.</div>
<div align="center">
<br /></div>
<div align="center">
Son #2 saw a Hot Air Balloon box as I was perusing the internet - so we grabbed a $3 basket from Target and a mylar balloon - tied them together, and there you go. He loved it. This idea came from Tatertots and Jello - <a href="http://tatertotsandjello.com/2016/02/up-up-and-away-hot-air-balloon-valentine-box.html" target="_blank">HERE</a>. </div>

This is another project that son #2 has been waiting and waiting for me to finish. I got this pattern and kit on a trip up to Jackson, WY a few years ago. I worked on it . . . little by little by little. I had everything done but the quilting and binding and finally over the recent holiday weekend I decided to just sit myself down and get it finished. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For some reason, machine quilting scares me! I hunted around for a chalk marker to measure and outline some sort of quilting pattern and then, when I couldn't find the marker, I just sat down and whipped it out. And it turned out great. Sometimes I just over think, I guess.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Anyway, here is the finished wallhanging. It is a pattern called "Life in the Tetons" by SMG Quilts. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQqqHfO4rVPFqS_1MkBSnPGofo6UCvGYS78lRYROQLMb7JO2ys0zBVT101tQB2gdOlrpp635zafM3hg6AlPnabc4CAlcMX5l1d5XOaHDK_FrHVPEde0l7wGR0yBRqwexOtXi8n7owMZPrc/s1600/September+017.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="238" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQqqHfO4rVPFqS_1MkBSnPGofo6UCvGYS78lRYROQLMb7JO2ys0zBVT101tQB2gdOlrpp635zafM3hg6AlPnabc4CAlcMX5l1d5XOaHDK_FrHVPEde0l7wGR0yBRqwexOtXi8n7owMZPrc/s320/September+017.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here is a close up. The appliqué is very detailed and cutting it all out was tedious - but it was well worth it. It is actually one giant piece - connected to itself. The details are wonderful. The background fabric is perfect. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_KmUaCR6J5Yx_mb3Tdn2BTyMzQSLtnzK4cWqHZ9nXGu5Jo6D_KEgYYGQOTADOR6-IKOCmkhCVP1oTvCaAd9P6j1xlWK6i4jZguq34GrgiJ5VnmELaRMrMzAqqZID_G_NjcqvQJfrM7BBL/s1600/September+019.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_KmUaCR6J5Yx_mb3Tdn2BTyMzQSLtnzK4cWqHZ9nXGu5Jo6D_KEgYYGQOTADOR6-IKOCmkhCVP1oTvCaAd9P6j1xlWK6i4jZguq34GrgiJ5VnmELaRMrMzAqqZID_G_NjcqvQJfrM7BBL/s320/September+019.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now we're just waiting for the quilt hanger we want to order to come back in stock. Son #2 is very excited to have something to put on his bedroom wall. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And another long unfinished project finally completed. That does feel good!</div>

<br />
This project is a summer stitch-a-long from <a href="http://wildolive.blogspot.com/p/seasonal-stitching-club.html" target="_blank">Wild Olive</a>. I finished stitching the top about 2 years ago. And I finished piecing the top about a year ago. I finally put the binding on in the last few days and now, ta da . . . a mini quilt of hand stitched hexagons.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

And how is it that summer is flying by so quickly? I have another UFO waiting to be finished. Soon - - - can't wait to share it.<br />

I'm still alive and crafting a little bit, here and there. A new job has really taken up my time and I haven't had the energy to do too much. But I'm trying to get myself back into the swing of my crafting life - because it does my soul good!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My boys just finished school a week ago. With both my husband and I having been classroom teachers for quite a few years, we try hard to give teacher gifts that can actually be used and are things that teachers will like - - - and more often than not, that means gift cards! It may not be super crafty or cute-sy, but teachers can only take so many mugs or cute little gifts. Gift cards are where it's at! For the end of school, we do try to also add in something homemade from the boys, usually something "rock" related. This year that was necklaces with beautiful stones for each of the lady teachers. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSN6ImBxI3FbmyaGT1fQK8iFSf_OGlPx4ELBEJqUeV7NDrKJC9CzX5TPz2btO5zJEXzWTdtHccT6bypBfQcyl2Ycfcb_7CctwGjIoZ1Ab8XCRyOyMx5r4SOYbC4lHy7h-RYbFhvhoxVQIa/s1600/June+005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSN6ImBxI3FbmyaGT1fQK8iFSf_OGlPx4ELBEJqUeV7NDrKJC9CzX5TPz2btO5zJEXzWTdtHccT6bypBfQcyl2Ycfcb_7CctwGjIoZ1Ab8XCRyOyMx5r4SOYbC4lHy7h-RYbFhvhoxVQIa/s320/June+005.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I found these really cute printables for Amazon gift cards at <a href="http://fabulesslyfrugal.com/teacher-gift-card-printables/" target="_blank">Fabulessly Frugal</a>. I love when people are willing to share their talents and creativity with us, for free! I simply printed them out on some 5x7" photo paper I had laying around and used some glue dots to attach the gift cards. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWzI8ZW9D8VmEjmT2tF4Ny2hWEa-doii-SFNV1GVTiQI13jb0TbM37i2ZYkvlqZ0jaxwNoY8rwZiSfTRSbJj7i8YBnqELc2KcLexMTmEXAWD8msLVC0I6mDQ3giEPJp9z0p9U_XIDbKSlS/s1600/June+006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWzI8ZW9D8VmEjmT2tF4Ny2hWEa-doii-SFNV1GVTiQI13jb0TbM37i2ZYkvlqZ0jaxwNoY8rwZiSfTRSbJj7i8YBnqELc2KcLexMTmEXAWD8msLVC0I6mDQ3giEPJp9z0p9U_XIDbKSlS/s320/June+006.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Super easy and really cute. But most important - hopefully personal and yet useable and appreciated by those hard working teachers that spent the year teaching and working with my boys. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

I have a pile of mending sitting in front of my sewing machine waiting for me to get to. And then I have a few projects in mind. More to come, soon, I hope!</div>

Our nephew and his wife had twins this summer - a boy and a girl. He joked that everything should just be gray so he didn't have to worry about which was the girl and which was the boy. I tried to take that philosophy and trend it up just a bit. I found some matching flannel in pinks and greens. Following Diary of a Quilter's <a href="http://shannonfabrics.com/blog/2013/09/27/cuddle-baby-self-binding-receiving-blanket/" target="_blank">tutorial</a>, I made up these super soft blankets.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhu176Y3sapk6e6Wa7rYzTq_B1nmnnS0KlUqnpNyg25JgjlBSsyIZcv-_MMnKyl_5olHIN4X1wV4SZzp_o0ZuJ56F1NxdnXTS0N1Yeb3DqMo22YMMg6lbrU5mSgow_3Hxq-Np8gFVVh03Nn/s1600/Anara+Brock6.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhu176Y3sapk6e6Wa7rYzTq_B1nmnnS0KlUqnpNyg25JgjlBSsyIZcv-_MMnKyl_5olHIN4X1wV4SZzp_o0ZuJ56F1NxdnXTS0N1Yeb3DqMo22YMMg6lbrU5mSgow_3Hxq-Np8gFVVh03Nn/s1600/Anara+Brock6.JPG" height="257" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div align="center">
I will admit that I haven't perfected this type of blanket yet. My corners are still not perfect and the blanket gets a little skewampus but you just can't beat the soft cuddle fabric. This is probably the hardest pattern I've used so if you're looking for something quick, easy, and perfectly square, this one isn't it. But it is so softy and cuddly!</div>
<div align="center">
</div>
<div align="center">
Here is Anara's blanket.</div>

Fortunately there are some great crafters out there who provide lots of great ideas (and tutorials). I happened upon this Fabric Covered Notebook idea over at <a href="http://amerooniedesigns.blogspot.com/2014/05/fabric-covered-notebooks.html" target="_blank">Ameroonie Designs</a> and fell in love. Her tutorial is easy to follow. And just to make sure I didn't have to mess things up with sewing math, I made sure to get notebooks that were the same size as hers (5"x7" - thanks Walmart!). I even ordered in the same fabric that she used - it couldn't have been cuter!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQBOTFHgU6fM2vroZS2hfcnTe9Zp4Nf7_R9RWK0MXt7bVKxTJSWO5mtd77cxjNueeYUawviwLvM10Fc4d1ealVNhAIMvyqw6ULNNZ5efNs9d8abl1AXqxI1jm7CY_RCI0paZzv6ncikgRG/s1600/June+004.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQBOTFHgU6fM2vroZS2hfcnTe9Zp4Nf7_R9RWK0MXt7bVKxTJSWO5mtd77cxjNueeYUawviwLvM10Fc4d1ealVNhAIMvyqw6ULNNZ5efNs9d8abl1AXqxI1jm7CY_RCI0paZzv6ncikgRG/s1600/June+004.JPG" height="235" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I used the pastels, boy, and primary colored main fabric for variety, since I had to make six of these.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlh-YEF6mdVEpdCxP7LgHLllSk-PLOQtjPPlm-CXpDfUmHcALT3t5A6WUMBEczVylcfLAaO4xOyCp8-r2zkdvH5GYP9cCc74K0O-rQUWDJ3EI-HQgNQLG2n2It3btDFRem4P8fddTu5crZ/s1600/June+005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlh-YEF6mdVEpdCxP7LgHLllSk-PLOQtjPPlm-CXpDfUmHcALT3t5A6WUMBEczVylcfLAaO4xOyCp8-r2zkdvH5GYP9cCc74K0O-rQUWDJ3EI-HQgNQLG2n2It3btDFRem4P8fddTu5crZ/s1600/June+005.JPG" height="186" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
My boys each chose the coordinating fabrics, ribbon, and elastic colors for each of their teachers. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSz-BwZ3DO40KQvyYt_jwtRR5p08Ilem6yRVra_dJSv5duS2Km-TTa6_sIlkQxRHi1zdbdomKAgEi1ocJvi9MkcMxJTgf1ZKSINL2BFZhUyd1H4Bxziidjg5ZKSorUmhtsoFuo4BDAEzkG/s1600/June+006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSz-BwZ3DO40KQvyYt_jwtRR5p08Ilem6yRVra_dJSv5duS2Km-TTa6_sIlkQxRHi1zdbdomKAgEi1ocJvi9MkcMxJTgf1ZKSINL2BFZhUyd1H4Bxziidjg5ZKSorUmhtsoFuo4BDAEzkG/s1600/June+006.JPG" height="320" width="260" /></a></div>
<br />
I loved each of them - the dark blue is so pretty.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPyGF7D6Hj23ueSinzQNWJlRpu4mR1b4WgfRKpNfhukkbhUdltIZ02GLLl03mDOHvaBEz30D9RYKfbsckkrkJgRaKxMgg87F5xlVyHaIKzLml7NSaXrBDp9pJcYhomg5QSN8qzULPrNa0m/s1600/June+007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPyGF7D6Hj23ueSinzQNWJlRpu4mR1b4WgfRKpNfhukkbhUdltIZ02GLLl03mDOHvaBEz30D9RYKfbsckkrkJgRaKxMgg87F5xlVyHaIKzLml7NSaXrBDp9pJcYhomg5QSN8qzULPrNa0m/s1600/June+007.JPG" height="320" width="276" /></a></div>
<br />
This pink one on top may have been my favorite, if I had to choose.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxveTKHtqMaO-ssdoBTKmznglKlcZTW_eqEvKbRnOsBOIdKblDEP83IbAc5Ri2uhNC5mlbPHQSC12tWy3ZxnRpz40lC_BzyIBMYLk90Qm5KQJP7xmSaeEMgXB3_IQHXq6HkjnvIRI95ulS/s1600/June+008.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxveTKHtqMaO-ssdoBTKmznglKlcZTW_eqEvKbRnOsBOIdKblDEP83IbAc5Ri2uhNC5mlbPHQSC12tWy3ZxnRpz40lC_BzyIBMYLk90Qm5KQJP7xmSaeEMgXB3_IQHXq6HkjnvIRI95ulS/s1600/June+008.JPG" height="320" width="262" /></a></div>
<br />
There are endless possibilities with all the coordinating fabric choices in this line (Riley Blake Hexis). <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhavxVw6grQBbsu-x4tVXfJmhRsGSYKzB-AzrNSGybEmkxGIJaYB-EZeQl2BdllJ7x9WP2frx4Qx7yBXrNA_ynxkz6UgzvkyXQDkBSeKTybyOMglO4wWj4JkAaScJY3lf_0GI5aajtl-Oq6/s1600/June+009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhavxVw6grQBbsu-x4tVXfJmhRsGSYKzB-AzrNSGybEmkxGIJaYB-EZeQl2BdllJ7x9WP2frx4Qx7yBXrNA_ynxkz6UgzvkyXQDkBSeKTybyOMglO4wWj4JkAaScJY3lf_0GI5aajtl-Oq6/s1600/June+009.JPG" height="320" width="267" /></a></div>
<br />
The notebooks are simple lined notebooks and can be changed out as needed. The old one slips right out of the sleeve and a new one slides right in its place.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjObvMOan7ydvL15OtwJ_yjoc9yWu8arZszEoOPnbRarRMKx10Zu7SyazYtI6RY6mE-TO-JhVgJ7t99pUWLpFFnFC0UV7_RM748Zsv-YKUgaFFUKdIab2mm_n2a9hMV0KWVolOd8Pe42fW9/s1600/June+010.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjObvMOan7ydvL15OtwJ_yjoc9yWu8arZszEoOPnbRarRMKx10Zu7SyazYtI6RY6mE-TO-JhVgJ7t99pUWLpFFnFC0UV7_RM748Zsv-YKUgaFFUKdIab2mm_n2a9hMV0KWVolOd8Pe42fW9/s1600/June+010.JPG" height="263" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And here is the finished product, with a pen in the pocket and all.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We added a polished geode slice necklace that the boys helped make to go with each notebook and along with a handwritten thank you note from the boys, we called it a great school year. It's always so wonderful to have great teachers that are patient and help your children become better at everything they do. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I love Amy's tutorial - quick and easy. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The boys each wanted a notebook of their own, so with some BOY fabric (they each selected their own fabric from my stash) and larger notebooks, I made summer writing journals for each of the them. I didn't think to take a picture of those, but I will and will add the picture later this week. </div>

This fabric had been calling my name for a few trips . . . and on the last trip, the sale sign was up. So - the bolts jumped in my cart, got cut, and walked themselves out of the store with me. <br />
<br />
I knew they would end up in some sort of tote bag. And I had been "needing" a new, smaller tote bag for church. So I perused the web and decided on my own version of a two-tone tote bag from <a href="http://www.makeit-loveit.com/2013/07/two-tone-fabric-totes-2-variations.html" target="_blank">Make It Love It</a>. I used this duck cloth and some fancy burlap ribbon, all from Hobby Lobby. I made the handles longer and the bag a little smaller than the instructions. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiD-6H-6nxhlv_GIqbkSK03nggtj1iM2UIEUrw9IZRjEPtwg0TSwGSyNwheYEbqj5yamHaw074vbuaDYWDubmxDO25U_XFxcN42komcT4XB6MhOv0svFVyKlkS9375lguCuqrXJmo3K5Ys3/s1600/Tote1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiD-6H-6nxhlv_GIqbkSK03nggtj1iM2UIEUrw9IZRjEPtwg0TSwGSyNwheYEbqj5yamHaw074vbuaDYWDubmxDO25U_XFxcN42komcT4XB6MhOv0svFVyKlkS9375lguCuqrXJmo3K5Ys3/s1600/Tote1.JPG" height="320" width="205" /></a></div>
<br />
The cute chevron fabric in orange and gray just really, really grabbed my attention. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcjVX2V4ZAzTXftNKy_Q6UAOeAnidMM-pQQUvdfuz60FJdKelGA9RZjNYCIpYrzs0KnXIaEeiMax4qYn6ElEIUpE4lRqsQSUncA6bxMJuh0JpQhFx7TJlWyt9gDmNwP3OPFeaDCK3AEqeE/s1600/Tote2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcjVX2V4ZAzTXftNKy_Q6UAOeAnidMM-pQQUvdfuz60FJdKelGA9RZjNYCIpYrzs0KnXIaEeiMax4qYn6ElEIUpE4lRqsQSUncA6bxMJuh0JpQhFx7TJlWyt9gDmNwP3OPFeaDCK3AEqeE/s1600/Tote2.JPG" height="268" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I added some functional and much needed pockets to the lining. I also made sure to include some fusible fleece to help with the thickness of the bag. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrDhHEKcMCmus3zQqpASs4JFqZ8gvrJ-N04wNMxxSPfPJlFjUvzgYyn1bDCgqF9BWAZl2dJAs8PMcBb0r2jD3pnWXou4tPBa5yB3YtEZmp2phzxRdHnwwdrcPfskjdnGxn70-fmjEWolNn/s1600/Tote4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrDhHEKcMCmus3zQqpASs4JFqZ8gvrJ-N04wNMxxSPfPJlFjUvzgYyn1bDCgqF9BWAZl2dJAs8PMcBb0r2jD3pnWXou4tPBa5yB3YtEZmp2phzxRdHnwwdrcPfskjdnGxn70-fmjEWolNn/s1600/Tote4.JPG" height="320" width="271" /></a></div>
<br />
And look at this cute sequin/burlap ribbon I added on. The flower was one from my stash and I added in a little rhinestone in the center for just a touch of sparkle. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFYS1f3B9RfiXQTfD11akzdRWlqTvglkrTGojhe0l0TSJyhwWMUB2PlyBlDbuRVlPGSMJAykPt31qR2QBC8F8Mi8zhvyw6XQPAYIBSn69i5zuLY5YsberIlG0sc16t9hgsXhlsMh9jpcd7/s1600/Tote7.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFYS1f3B9RfiXQTfD11akzdRWlqTvglkrTGojhe0l0TSJyhwWMUB2PlyBlDbuRVlPGSMJAykPt31qR2QBC8F8Mi8zhvyw6XQPAYIBSn69i5zuLY5YsberIlG0sc16t9hgsXhlsMh9jpcd7/s1600/Tote7.JPG" height="210" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />I used it today and it was absolutely perfect! Another bag that is just what I needed!<br />

And as I've said before, every baby needs its very own baby blanket, made just for him/her. <br />
<br />
This one was for one of my son's teachers. He selected the fabric by himself - can you tell it was a baby boy? And this is a new pattern that I hadn't done before. The tutorial is by Diary of a Quilter over at <a href="http://shannonfabrics.com/blog/2013/09/27/cuddle-baby-self-binding-receiving-blanket/" target="_blank">Shannon Fabrics</a>. It is a little tricky in that your measurements have to be perfectly exact to make it come out without any little puckers. I do love the super soft cuddle fabric in the middle of soft soft flannel. I know it looks like the cuddle fabric (green) is small, but it really does take up the majority of the center of the quilt.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This is a great baby blanket and I will be using this pattern a lot in the future.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGDhM4kkEviHYoht15E5Iy997f3a4Z1J1R7_4YScT6Oqq8DNUZ8x2A05JTfAO_JN8f8v_mAzbI3QW99QbLGjNPLwgOXbdJgdjThMRAwFvhNqh-7XJxkAwFV2jZ6mq38XSMQLfiNW7OagcY/s1600/Olsen+4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGDhM4kkEviHYoht15E5Iy997f3a4Z1J1R7_4YScT6Oqq8DNUZ8x2A05JTfAO_JN8f8v_mAzbI3QW99QbLGjNPLwgOXbdJgdjThMRAwFvhNqh-7XJxkAwFV2jZ6mq38XSMQLfiNW7OagcY/s1600/Olsen+4.JPG" height="320" width="296" /></a></div>
<br />
We also needed a blanket for a little girl. Why is it that you can never go wrong with pink? And we "pinked" this one out. This is my go-to <a href="http://www.sewmuchado.com/2009/05/ric-rac-receiving-blanket-tutorial.html" target="_blank">ric rac blanket</a> pattern. I've made lots and lots of these and they are so quick and easy . . . . and they turn out so darn cute! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijSAmo2_M-qMHpxi_cJZgsd0C6sCoFoyTt5qy61syXluqe_pniDz0waZ21VeR4R61d80G2SjCoCkccVQK-SZIBlTXksumjH-UL0HwWaLSxXraowDGqjZDWYRuqx6il2E_5F3hmiYErTY3G/s1600/Josh+Tam+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijSAmo2_M-qMHpxi_cJZgsd0C6sCoFoyTt5qy61syXluqe_pniDz0waZ21VeR4R61d80G2SjCoCkccVQK-SZIBlTXksumjH-UL0HwWaLSxXraowDGqjZDWYRuqx6il2E_5F3hmiYErTY3G/s1600/Josh+Tam+2.JPG" height="216" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
For some reason the options for baby girl flannels are limited right now - at least at my favorite baby flannel fabric shop. This was a quick choice just to get me out of the store, but when I got it home, I really really loved it. And you can't go wrong with pink polka dots! All in all, another winner, in my humble opinion. <br />

I've had these patchwork christmas stockings on my "to do list" for quite a while now. And since wedding days become hard deadlines, I finally got them finished. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I saw these stockings over at <a href="http://duringquiettime.com/2012/08/blitzen-patchwork-stocking-tutorial.html" target="_blank">During Quiet Time's</a> blog a long time ago and have been collecting fabrics from the Blitzen line in anticipation of making some. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I've made quite a few Christmas stockings through the years - many different patterns and some even created all by myself. But I wanted something new and different for this set of newlyweds. Our friend's son and his new wife needed something modern and not too cutesy. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I added the names - because doesn't every stocking need a name on it?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrOv3BUvILdO6eoyHmpxmTiQCAzR0jXaf_OEkYvz6xJeWzyWh0gWr6O3TFM1Ku05ik2jvwvGiPtmli0rEYN-wEkC21LgGYswS6uUEyk_nImO8o1pNwpnXhyKWkFWnQZZBYNV1qysHmtm2b/s1600/stocking+dax+sara2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrOv3BUvILdO6eoyHmpxmTiQCAzR0jXaf_OEkYvz6xJeWzyWh0gWr6O3TFM1Ku05ik2jvwvGiPtmli0rEYN-wEkC21LgGYswS6uUEyk_nImO8o1pNwpnXhyKWkFWnQZZBYNV1qysHmtm2b/s1600/stocking+dax+sara2.JPG" height="320" width="171" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I just love the Blitzen fabric - snowmen and lots of reds and greens.</div>

I've been planning and dreaming and scheming up some crafts. Finally this weekend I buckled down to start a new project. <br />
<br />
As I got my rotary cutter and mat out to get started I realized I had finally come to a point in my sewing life where I "needed" some pattern weights. I had seen these around the internet and knew right where to go for the easy tutorial: <a href="http://www.craftinessisnotoptional.com/2014/01/simple-easy-pattern-weights.html" target="_blank">Craftiness Is Not Optional</a>. A quick stop at the home store for some washers and some raiding of my ribbon stash . . . and now I have some new pattern weights. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCewCCXorAboK3hyphenhyphenne8s2KOuPGAqbam5NPnCDfQ-_lUYlHH6_U7IaZhYjQLCRMSEW3zSt38LmR5i9bCuKbGSIA5BANK18Q7Mvv993Em9bcUBiVdHTObmtAqNdpvaIieRCuLw6Gb_uGGKTa/s1600/Pattern+Weights+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCewCCXorAboK3hyphenhyphenne8s2KOuPGAqbam5NPnCDfQ-_lUYlHH6_U7IaZhYjQLCRMSEW3zSt38LmR5i9bCuKbGSIA5BANK18Q7Mvv993Em9bcUBiVdHTObmtAqNdpvaIieRCuLw6Gb_uGGKTa/s1600/Pattern+Weights+2.JPG" height="197" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I glued three washers together instead of two - just to add a little more weight. Besides what else was I going to do with a package of giant washers. I ended up making 8 weights. Love them already!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihPy0hDjX-fDNSl_rredaRVqh4LFiAehcksc2Fkv_MTIYQYhdFYTCsyVNCHybmH3AO1X_265b-rXjCqEwaQAeQ0mTswWQOpKZy6Hi3Pea6B-SiAqVlQ7T1nOpxBswmMsS9cgG0FsFAu4tb/s1600/Pattern+Weights+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihPy0hDjX-fDNSl_rredaRVqh4LFiAehcksc2Fkv_MTIYQYhdFYTCsyVNCHybmH3AO1X_265b-rXjCqEwaQAeQ0mTswWQOpKZy6Hi3Pea6B-SiAqVlQ7T1nOpxBswmMsS9cgG0FsFAu4tb/s1600/Pattern+Weights+1.JPG" height="319" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Can you guess what my next project is going to be? Hint: Look at the pattern I'm cutting out. More to come . . . . soon I hope!</div>

January seems to fly by so quickly and Valentines will be here before I can blink. So I try hard to work ahead and get the boy's Valentines ready to go before the end of January. I've had these done and ready to go for about a week and a half now. The best part is that they come from other crafter's blogs - great people who are so willing to share their great ideas. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And actually, neither of these are new ideas for us. We've used them in the past. But they are so great - and the boys are at a new campus this year so the vast majority of the kids in their classes haven't received these from them before.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Son #1 chose to do bouncy balls again this year. These come from <a href="http://pagingsupermom.com/2011/01/bouncy-ball-valentines/" target="_blank">Paging Supermom</a>. She has some great ideas. I've already printed out some Valentine's worksheets for the boys to work on this week and next. These are so easy - print out the labels, sign your name, put the balls in a plastic bag, and staple everything closed. Simple and cute - can't beat it!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuix-ZA3wogJBwktR8ObayygMm6HvRUBS5QbeBEwLBc1tdGZTEUKQHwtX6Xm5AUj_SQ5k20yBxLLSiBTFwOPe3PMB2sN5lelsIfU-ejAbX37SexyKab7NFp-0NtHYuEWXbYxXx9a-YtQyK/s1600/February+005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuix-ZA3wogJBwktR8ObayygMm6HvRUBS5QbeBEwLBc1tdGZTEUKQHwtX6Xm5AUj_SQ5k20yBxLLSiBTFwOPe3PMB2sN5lelsIfU-ejAbX37SexyKab7NFp-0NtHYuEWXbYxXx9a-YtQyK/s1600/February+005.JPG" height="249" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Son #2 picked these great bug jar Valentines. I truly LOVE these! They are from <a href="http://www.dandee-designs.com/2012/02/love-bug-valentines.html" target="_blank">Dandy Designs</a> and they were a huge hit with son #1's class last year. Print the jars on brown card stock, have son #2 sign his name, and pop the bugs on with removable glue dots. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I love hunting down cute boy Valentine's ideas on the inter webs. So many great people out there are willing to share their hard work and great ideas. And they make my life easier. Is it crazy to say that we already have ideas and maybe even a few supplies picked out and packed away for next year? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Or maybe I don't! </div>

<br />
So yes, I finished these the late afternoon of Christmas Eve, but that still counts. I had seen these reusable Christmas Bags over on the Riley Blake blog a year ago and decided I needed one for each of my two boys for their Christmas pajamas. Honestly, the bags were for me . . . but I did find a really fun Christmas scavenger hunt printable (wish I could remember the source now!). I set up the super easy hunt with these bags hidden at the end and they loved figuring out all the clues and finding new pajamas at the end. <br />
<br />
The link for the tutorials (bag and fabric name tags) are <a href="http://www.simplesimonandco.com/2012/12/a-handmade-christmas-reusable-christmas.html" target="_blank">HERE</a> at the Simple Simon & Co blog. Super easy sewing. The hardest part is making the buttonholes for the tags - but my sewing machine makes those quick and easy too. I used the same Alpine Wonderland fabric as in the tutorial.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiz5_s-vbhOATP6AqQUOLA1pYrvYWOKNoD1srGG0T2qkBRAwp-8GVCSImrhZw6FNizBctejU3Cky4Hdv-UVEO26fNHVE7b8EPA6zAqTEyeDR6HerwI8I_IDpTlxOStG5mzva8acMZ4sImmX/s1600/Christmas+Bags+008.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="203" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiz5_s-vbhOATP6AqQUOLA1pYrvYWOKNoD1srGG0T2qkBRAwp-8GVCSImrhZw6FNizBctejU3Cky4Hdv-UVEO26fNHVE7b8EPA6zAqTEyeDR6HerwI8I_IDpTlxOStG5mzva8acMZ4sImmX/s320/Christmas+Bags+008.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The fabric name tags really make it, I think.<br />

It's been a busy last few weeks. I did manage to whip out this cute little Colors Quiet Book for a friend of mine to give to her brand new granddaughter. <br />
<br />
It really is a little sad to know that my boys have moved beyond the phase of enjoying little books like these. I so love making them! So since I had all the supplies waiting for one just like this, it went together quickly and easily. This is from a designer named Shelley Wallace and I find lots of cute things in her <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/shelleywallace" target="_blank">Etsy shop</a>. I've made up quiet a few of her quiet book patterns in the past and each one is as cute as the next. <br />
<br />
Here is the front cover.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Really, the hardest part on these is the hand embroidery of the words. And even that isn't really hard - just takes a little focused time. So worth it! I hope she enjoys it this year!<br />
<br />
I do have one more quick little project in the works for tomorrow or the next day . . . if I can get to it. More to come, hopefully!Mason/Sam/Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18023600683561121362noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3833972680380990703.post-37656618324163748282013-12-15T12:00:00.000-07:002013-12-15T12:00:02.255-07:00My Christmas Village<div style="text-align: center;">
Many years ago, I had some energy . . . . and I spent a few long hours hand painting a ceramic Christmas village. I hadn't put it up since before my boys were born. And we finally decided to pull it out of the deep recesses of the garage this year and put it up. We've loved having it on our mantle and I've loved seeing it all again. It's an animal village with lots of extra animals and trees that I didn't include in the pictures. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here are the pieces:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
#1 - Mr. Squirrel's Pine Tree Inn. This one is an old pine log that they've made a house out of.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOjEitgYWULx3U7AegQ-0igCV97pMXBYN59isfMLeOBavr5CoFqMQkNRiTGgQG1XKUbqPKF8V2ABJIid5K74qDKHslSSbq9e29MvFRYZ0K5sDAW8xStf2zrBTgeBeyi3Fo08b6BIw_XNM6/s1600/Christmas+Village+001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOjEitgYWULx3U7AegQ-0igCV97pMXBYN59isfMLeOBavr5CoFqMQkNRiTGgQG1XKUbqPKF8V2ABJIid5K74qDKHslSSbq9e29MvFRYZ0K5sDAW8xStf2zrBTgeBeyi3Fo08b6BIw_XNM6/s320/Christmas+Village+001.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
#2 - Beaver Tree Farm. This one is an old stump that the beavers chewed down.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtMuBK5_xmDORnLniX1bK18ocSOyExCbqAhWC0sU8xcS54iugN0XIL4xb-qx6aPTHj3pw7UUCrqo5EmwkvcK7PDy6suJMSxyU5TNfbM__ov84gmgCa5gW8w-s5x84F46oagWMsYPbxbiOc/s1600/Christmas+Village+002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtMuBK5_xmDORnLniX1bK18ocSOyExCbqAhWC0sU8xcS54iugN0XIL4xb-qx6aPTHj3pw7UUCrqo5EmwkvcK7PDy6suJMSxyU5TNfbM__ov84gmgCa5gW8w-s5x84F46oagWMsYPbxbiOc/s320/Christmas+Village+002.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
#3 - the Barn. This piece isn't actually part of the set, but it was the right size and pretty darn cute, so I included it anyway.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_HrXbDNiBmzJVIrwmDPE24Fx7an7nw4YS6IHUi2r1MjH0aYPZ44l80AhYv4Ug8druQbMe7cyp_YuVSrerpxFiHpvCKh0U21ScgHJYVd7RMfFVKsxu6739JenbnDPju8zkGktakE3Z58ZT/s1600/Christmas+Village+003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_HrXbDNiBmzJVIrwmDPE24Fx7an7nw4YS6IHUi2r1MjH0aYPZ44l80AhYv4Ug8druQbMe7cyp_YuVSrerpxFiHpvCKh0U21ScgHJYVd7RMfFVKsxu6739JenbnDPju8zkGktakE3Z58ZT/s320/Christmas+Village+003.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
#4 - Mrs. Mouse's Bed and Breakfast. I love this one - a B&B made out of a teapot.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEji9JTgK2YjyxDW5gQtFxNCLL5HToiM5hldcHxs6HvyPWWVfSWQp70KxkLf4qtcbV2bs1QBcNVAVm_jS8cAkf4ydIfk4yhyphenhyphenmhy2eumoN6AH4YqTMMmN5L-FLGQlzA4Zg7VU6aoa3lTvr8b2/s1600/Christmas+Village+004.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEji9JTgK2YjyxDW5gQtFxNCLL5HToiM5hldcHxs6HvyPWWVfSWQp70KxkLf4qtcbV2bs1QBcNVAVm_jS8cAkf4ydIfk4yhyphenhyphenmhy2eumoN6AH4YqTMMmN5L-FLGQlzA4Zg7VU6aoa3lTvr8b2/s320/Christmas+Village+004.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
#5 - Rabbit Seed Farm. I also love this one with the water wheel. The house is an old terracotta plant pot. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnYTVc4xwr6o0sUwDDWkj00m37JBWoE_UoXfzsDmYZvrJhi3-THuOQA8wdwHT1-sgB-V_WS1zeQfKdGGtbLovfcTG6liacztBGP16wMqWvI4FOsN2ZU1_BT-ralPiTqF0H7BVM2DKXxVxA/s1600/Christmas+Village+005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="245" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnYTVc4xwr6o0sUwDDWkj00m37JBWoE_UoXfzsDmYZvrJhi3-THuOQA8wdwHT1-sgB-V_WS1zeQfKdGGtbLovfcTG6liacztBGP16wMqWvI4FOsN2ZU1_BT-ralPiTqF0H7BVM2DKXxVxA/s320/Christmas+Village+005.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="post signature" class="centered" src="http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r208/jennisajoy/OUAB/BLOG/signaturecopy.jpg" />I actually love them all! I spent so much time on them and it's great to have them up. The artist who created the molds put lots of wonderful details in to them.</div>

You know how it is! You see something cute, a project, a pattern or a kit that just calls your name . . . and you know "it will only take a few minutes" so you buy it and add it to the ever-growing stack. Well I finally finished a couple of items in the Halloween project stack this week. Even if the project is completed on the day of the holiday, it still counts doesn't it? <br />
Sharing time:<br />
<br />
1 - I love creative people who think up all these cute wood projects. And even more, I love going to a craft store/specialty shop and being able to purchase ALL the things I need to do those cute wood projects all at one time. It really does make the project quick and easy! There are certain icons of every holiday that I seem to be attracted to - one of those icons for Halloween are cute little bottles of unknown, dangerous potions. These wooden bottles just called my name. I need a piece of cute ribbon to go around the taller one - it's final addition - that will happen next year!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj00KRQ0vxAS15Yl5fm9JsfZT94XURJLFkshzAJ9PYIBNScWWQiNWRHfYA1JjAst7kUsdr45hgjMqgmgZEF5wT7W1IV8AzCNpHwAMy1JJUr2c5g6_jlQAbb7TPyFxngTEvP5bCknPFiIVD2/s1600/November+021.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="244" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj00KRQ0vxAS15Yl5fm9JsfZT94XURJLFkshzAJ9PYIBNScWWQiNWRHfYA1JjAst7kUsdr45hgjMqgmgZEF5wT7W1IV8AzCNpHwAMy1JJUr2c5g6_jlQAbb7TPyFxngTEvP5bCknPFiIVD2/s320/November+021.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
2 - This little bat was sweet and super quick. Enough said!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYiC9p-IJhA1lD6NzR0BZKvpWdQu-GEAF1MKQWSl0OKQusq89ycAgTKW2YoQ4iaQbX_r19a79qFFXw9oUTBRZh3OZWoU-OngeBTcSjF2LsP-UNS3rBRJz1Vl1YI0Hh2z-dBYKv7DApgDDg/s1600/November+022.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="172" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYiC9p-IJhA1lD6NzR0BZKvpWdQu-GEAF1MKQWSl0OKQusq89ycAgTKW2YoQ4iaQbX_r19a79qFFXw9oUTBRZh3OZWoU-OngeBTcSjF2LsP-UNS3rBRJz1Vl1YI0Hh2z-dBYKv7DApgDDg/s320/November+022.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
3 - I saw these adorable spooky crystal balls over at <a href="http://www.flamingotoes.com/2013/10/spooky-crystal-ball-halloween-candlesticks/" target="_blank">Flamingo Toes</a>. I HAD to make them! I gathered all my supplies and brought them home. The first thing to do is to put some smoke inside the clear GLASS balls. Well - the key word here is g.l.a.s.s. Somehow (I think it was the cheap in me) I ended up with plastic balls. After melting a bit of the opening to one of the balls, I realized I either needed to run out and spend the money on the glass ones or figure out a different way to put some "smoke" in the balls. Husband suggested some tempura paint and it worked as well as I could have hoped. Not quite the smoke Flamingo Toes created, but good enough. And some days, I'm ok with "good enough". <br />

<br />
And as we were putting away Halloween decorations yesterday I saw one of my favorite decorations sitting on the table. Who can resist a cute Frankenstein. But even better - one with a bowl full of eyeballs. Eyeballs are another of those icons of Halloween I just love! I painted each one of these many years ago. Love them!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuW1M5qXLo81-TokbjhOgb9II3zBSqQ_Y51xu57HLnAUFSBEvkF-Nz1LRphynBfCiSR6kSuuF59EJnRKOQ4wr2bBt_a4ksS30P3Ald8z-IYevrOtv2jxRJG8JE5oHVN3NtfHWvtGVsGCyb/s1600/November+027.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuW1M5qXLo81-TokbjhOgb9II3zBSqQ_Y51xu57HLnAUFSBEvkF-Nz1LRphynBfCiSR6kSuuF59EJnRKOQ4wr2bBt_a4ksS30P3Ald8z-IYevrOtv2jxRJG8JE5oHVN3NtfHWvtGVsGCyb/s320/November+027.JPG" width="282" /></a></div>
<br />
And finally - I got to go help at son #1's class Halloween party at school on Thursday. He wanted me to do a craft. So we got looking online and came across this cute idea for some Frankenstein Stained Glass Window Art at <a href="http://mrstsfirstgradeclass-jill.blogspot.com/2011/10/frankenstein-window-art.html" target="_blank">Mrs. T's First Grade Class</a> Blog. I had to do all the prep work myself ahead of time since I only had a few minutes with each group, but we worked fast and they each got their Franky done and ready to go home. <br />

I do love Halloween decorations! I don't love dressing up, but I love the decorations and always will!<br />

I finally got around to making this cute little craft - - A Witch Leg or as I like to call it - - Witchy Gams. The pattern is actually called Glinda's Gams and it was a really quick, easy project.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh02whliw-wrVpDg-xRDug94WUuyqbqT3iSwayNJQsZnNTPqEqvLpXZHKUiZoGR8AEE1smI36AQjrDmmjpkzBgfU6F1h7tAy3Tx4HMzsXCYk7zvQP5G_8-MZv7QjEUl_Zx6H3ass-i6Jkp4/s1600/October+389.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh02whliw-wrVpDg-xRDug94WUuyqbqT3iSwayNJQsZnNTPqEqvLpXZHKUiZoGR8AEE1smI36AQjrDmmjpkzBgfU6F1h7tAy3Tx4HMzsXCYk7zvQP5G_8-MZv7QjEUl_Zx6H3ass-i6Jkp4/s320/October+389.JPG" width="162" /></a></div>
<br />
This particular witch leg was taken to our good friend who had us over for dinner tonight. My own witchy gam is part-way finished and will soon be hanging up ready to celebrate a little Halloween with us. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXwWLPqBscfkdK4MLMUr_MnXB5K2GyJ9RLBSh47D5fkfN7U1nN0h3bzVpmdaTCsqyoKv6XWKfTa_QR1_qqmSmHpMkTcbm-YuPZYdyw1fTAS7LE-IuJAmT4v2OhXGr6F6kybI9zl7Ja9tbD/s1600/October+390.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXwWLPqBscfkdK4MLMUr_MnXB5K2GyJ9RLBSh47D5fkfN7U1nN0h3bzVpmdaTCsqyoKv6XWKfTa_QR1_qqmSmHpMkTcbm-YuPZYdyw1fTAS7LE-IuJAmT4v2OhXGr6F6kybI9zl7Ja9tbD/s320/October+390.JPG" width="177" /></a></div>
<br />
I had just a tiny piece of this super cute spider/pom pom trim left over from a Halloween craft a few years back. It was just the right size to add to this witch leg. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The rest of my good intentioned Halloween projects will probably go on hold until next year. I'm having a bit of trouble getting my son's new quilt actually quilted. Plan B, C, and D are being invoked. More to follow.<br />

Well son #2 had to grow up, at least a little bit, some time. This summer we finally took the leap and got him out of his toddler bed into a "big boy" bed. And I've struggled. Not with the big boy bed part, but with the "how to decorate his room" part. Son #2 is not picky . . . at all. Son #1 was a tad bit picky but luckily he went a long with my insightful guidance and agreed to decorate his room in an outdoors/wildlife theme. We found the most amazing bedding that really inspired the theme at Target quite a while ago. And knowing that son #2 would someday need his room to be more grown up, I've been on the lookout for something just as cute for him ever since. Though Target discontinued carrying the bedding line I got for son #1, I was able to find various sets on eBay and I thought about just getting son #2 matching bedding - since there was really absolutely nothing else nearly as cute. But as cute as it was, I couldn't talk myself into giving them matching bedrooms. They are completely different people and I want them to each have their own identify. I wouldn't want son #2 to feel like he is just a miniature son #1.</div>
<div align="center">
</div>
<div align="center">
So when we took out the toddler bed and brought in the beautiful, gently used, Pine bed that I found in the local online classifieds, it was time to get serious. Son #2 and I spent hours looking online at all the bedding options that would steer his new room theme. Nothing worked. OK, remember he's not all that picky - so let's just say it - nothing worked for me. </div>
<div align="center">
</div>
<div align="center">
Then, a started seeing a vision. We are all about the outdoors and wildlife around here. And some of the wall decorations that will stay in his room are of that same genre. I remembered a cute line of boy fabric that had been out but wasn't sure if I could still find it. I could and I managed to put together various cuts from all across the internet. I drew out a quilt for my little guy along with a pieced backing and a matching curtain - thank you to whomever invented graph paper. Quilting math is truly far more difficult that Calculus - and I would know, I took two years of Calculus! </div>
<div align="center">
</div>
<div align="center">
Anyway, the fabric arrived, I triple checked my quilt math, and finally I started cutting all the pieces. It always makes me laugh just a little when I'm piecing a quilt - you buy this great fabric, then you cut it up into little pieces and sew it all back together again. Fortunately, my mom happened to be in town over Labor day weekend and I talked her in to manning the ironing board. I sewed and pieced and threw chunks of fabric upstairs for her to iron. We had the top pieced in under 24 hours. I had done the curtain a few weeks ago, just to see if I liked it. I finally finished the pieced back this weekend and now, it's all ready to take to the long-arm quilter. Son #2's camping quilt is just about ready to go into his camping themed room.</div>
<div align="center">
</div>
<div align="center">
I know the pictures are awful - at night, in the house. But at least you can get the idea. The cotton fabric is all Fox Trails from Riley Blake. It's an adorable line that I just love. Husband kept saying it was a little girly for his tastes . . . until I got the lightweight corduroy and lightweight denim borders added. That helped "man it up!" The colors are light blues, light greens, creams, and tans. It really is great fabric!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8d0DkAJkofjr7fbyEV8ISi1rAekCMwhdlZmYXJQiS7DPbv7sQEYHDv5keReES-14SN6kkdVuKB7CMs4nvFY_nqf-ifg2Fd8fOZdS9Ut1xEEIc1scD7Pi455IO3qOQqT5V5x22ljM_PEJA/s1600/Sam+Quilt+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8d0DkAJkofjr7fbyEV8ISi1rAekCMwhdlZmYXJQiS7DPbv7sQEYHDv5keReES-14SN6kkdVuKB7CMs4nvFY_nqf-ifg2Fd8fOZdS9Ut1xEEIc1scD7Pi455IO3qOQqT5V5x22ljM_PEJA/s320/Sam+Quilt+2.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is a little better view of the top. The coordinating fabrics includes some plaids, argyles, stars, and dots. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKhxzxTgQwCfOkRTkFWIJIttm6_KE435OQOhkWwQ4VjAlgpbkvDJ2ovpdEyOFp6G9EN_3GppCEG9TlXTmd2u8Uducml9xpDmStsDBWkyRfOYn2imbNrv174b_9NcugWsbLfADfhRorbbnu/s1600/Sam+Quilt+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKhxzxTgQwCfOkRTkFWIJIttm6_KE435OQOhkWwQ4VjAlgpbkvDJ2ovpdEyOFp6G9EN_3GppCEG9TlXTmd2u8Uducml9xpDmStsDBWkyRfOYn2imbNrv174b_9NcugWsbLfADfhRorbbnu/s320/Sam+Quilt+3.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div align="center">
And here's a shot of the back. It's more of the denim and corduroy with some strips of cotton pieced in. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5YSyd-0AJdpnV88l6xYhugfBgfqo01SwEtCDwoOK9kcOetAtPz3O2_IqUIg0l70xCMfLgAf_ttP3mPTtzYm6YLGxydG1n5TdW85lS8W7Z1hxV9If5g2p089r8CkxU4QATe9vSzZeF1PqT/s1600/Sam+Quilt+5.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5YSyd-0AJdpnV88l6xYhugfBgfqo01SwEtCDwoOK9kcOetAtPz3O2_IqUIg0l70xCMfLgAf_ttP3mPTtzYm6YLGxydG1n5TdW85lS8W7Z1hxV9If5g2p089r8CkxU4QATe9vSzZeF1PqT/s320/Sam+Quilt+5.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'll drop it at the quilter's soon and after I get it back and get it bound, I'll show the finished product. There's starting to be a nip in the night air so it will be finished just in time to keep my little camper warm.</div>

It's been more than a few years since I did any kind of canning or preserving. But oh how I love this time of year when everything is being harvested and tastes so yummy. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I had seen this recipe a few months ago and filed it away for just this occasion. This occasion turned out to be a timely stop at a local farmer's market. Not only did I find some perfect nectarines and raspberries straight from the fields, I also ran in to a very old student of mine from many years ago who selected and sold these luscious bits of fruit to me. (Makes me feel older than the "29" years that I am - and I continue to hold at "29" for the foreseeable future!)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The boys and I got out the food processor and the sieve and whipped up a double batch of Nectarine Raspberry Freezer Jam. Here is my final product from breakfast this morning.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgApaw76JEf1dq4hep9LEoT4lKe6CLX7XNz5OiOHsBfsvFBcDdtnxPbc2UtYd1Inplo_xrOlujCdsfRhcaEHVLuFK2Hi4SQDCqD07rzNgpGjLL3hEV6nB-dbTWudPZBUWOOvC-0EUJ_PVxh/s1600/Freezer+Jam2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="233" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgApaw76JEf1dq4hep9LEoT4lKe6CLX7XNz5OiOHsBfsvFBcDdtnxPbc2UtYd1Inplo_xrOlujCdsfRhcaEHVLuFK2Hi4SQDCqD07rzNgpGjLL3hEV6nB-dbTWudPZBUWOOvC-0EUJ_PVxh/s320/Freezer+Jam2.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div align="center">
And since I'm no food blogger or food photographer, I'll use the picture from the site that inspired all this yummy goodness - <a href="http://www.simplebites.net/canning-101-freezer-jam-recipe-nectarine-raspberry-freezer-jam/" target="_blank">Simple Bites</a>. Click on over for the full recipe - super quick, super easy, and really no fail. I even added slightly less sugar than the recipe called for (and then read the Pectin instructions that said "Don't skimp on the sugar or your jam might not set up correctly" - - - but I live dangerously and it came out perfectly!) </div>

Bows and ribbons and flowers and sparkly things usually aren't my thing. And quite frankly, I have never been a big fan of the flowery, feathery headbands that moms put on their baby girls. <br />
<br />
But I finally broke down and decided to whip a few up to add to some baby gifts that were headed out from my house. I think I could have placed a small, fairly conservative headband on a baby girl if I had gotten the opportunity. And these couldn't have been simpler to make!!!<br />

<br />
Let's take a closer look at these - you can buy fold over elastic in all kinds of colors and patterns. It's so soft!<br />

I wanted the headbands to be interchangeable so that you weren't just limited to one flower per headband. Really easy to do! I found this You Tube video and wanted to have it for the future if I ever decide to make these again. </div>

I've been keeping busy making blankets - I think every new baby deserves their very own blankets to cuddle up in. <br />
<br />
This one is for the lone baby boy of the summer (at least that we know). Son #1's best friend from school is having a baby brother over the summer and he wanted to give the family a gift. I came across this super soft cuddle fabric and used it for a blanket. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjE-nSz-KdFTmDYnK_k9RideShygBlNOOQLAvJTIwg2nFbmXmkxchTUw1aWW2C6Z-hXuDa578MonyA5yIdi_M9G2IGDhyphenhyphenoS3HKUdVXtzosUfGclHUACGg1RvBF9i9fpQA2R0RwMTDgDWFTx/s1600/May+1118.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjE-nSz-KdFTmDYnK_k9RideShygBlNOOQLAvJTIwg2nFbmXmkxchTUw1aWW2C6Z-hXuDa578MonyA5yIdi_M9G2IGDhyphenhyphenoS3HKUdVXtzosUfGclHUACGg1RvBF9i9fpQA2R0RwMTDgDWFTx/s320/May+1118.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
At the same fabric store, I found this beautiful lime green and gray cuddle fabric. I wanted something non-traditional for husband's niece's new baby girl and got this blanket finished this morning - - just in time for the party.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWWGJ5Gy_Dyocp0g665FwwbFJnutignc37Q73CZLKDyfky5tEs1oXs4kgzXWIsP-mIJ92Vn2uyZdLWdy31B-3jkEkL0cbJhyRsoB1xE3vv9nQ4LwxaPqmsx6Xgflg0nSKTFb-tbOm_-FIV/s1600/Babyblanket2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWWGJ5Gy_Dyocp0g665FwwbFJnutignc37Q73CZLKDyfky5tEs1oXs4kgzXWIsP-mIJ92Vn2uyZdLWdy31B-3jkEkL0cbJhyRsoB1xE3vv9nQ4LwxaPqmsx6Xgflg0nSKTFb-tbOm_-FIV/s320/Babyblanket2.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
This blanket is for another of husband's nephews. He and his wife are having #6. This is soft flannel with a crocheted edging around it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqhq6UkBVxsnzYCS-zQ6bJT7yB_UvintAiUmKYA5GSdySzb7TCxmc6NEi2bo0cWh0rrkB9rinw1QZf06gglV4CqPPNEEjMomH7Wd3hWLYpRaqxcHnI8swmIoN0RcgtNpVjOFN3KUt3lXy5/s1600/Babyblanket4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqhq6UkBVxsnzYCS-zQ6bJT7yB_UvintAiUmKYA5GSdySzb7TCxmc6NEi2bo0cWh0rrkB9rinw1QZf06gglV4CqPPNEEjMomH7Wd3hWLYpRaqxcHnI8swmIoN0RcgtNpVjOFN3KUt3lXy5/s320/Babyblanket4.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And one of my cousins is having twin girls this summer so I whipped up these two ric-rack baby blankets in coordinating fabrics. I can always, always, always count on the ric-rack blankets to turn out cute!<br />

I knew I had to try it out and finally got it finished this week. <br />
<br />
I found this great six paned window from North Carolina. It is over 100 years old and it has some amazing old square headed nails. My husband carefully stripped the old flaky paint off and sanded it down. He painted it a light coat of flat white paint and then I distressed the paint with some sandpaper. (Yes, I had the easy job.) <br />
<br />
Six mini quilts later and here you have my version of a Window Quilt. I gave it away for a family reunion auction this weekend. I was tempted to bid on it so I could have it but I let it go, knowing that I could make another just for myself. <br />

I just can't stop! Making the jewelry is probably even more fun that having the finished pieces. <br />
Anyway - here are a few of my latest creations:<br />
<br />
Bezel set, faceted gems from my local Gem Fair that I simply had to pop onto some earring findings. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPhwfdcSTRj62aXS8eWzYDKfwZRiTEfoPexYLGdpmGjwmTtCFISJa_PjzGQZQIRydmIQSQaSUMX_I9Jk9MIsQ_CdQzNK3YdNh7VCHuf23w6PzigidHBPICBkbc6NGCmFqdsYIGGw3Fg_fx/s1600/June+280.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="270" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPhwfdcSTRj62aXS8eWzYDKfwZRiTEfoPexYLGdpmGjwmTtCFISJa_PjzGQZQIRydmIQSQaSUMX_I9Jk9MIsQ_CdQzNK3YdNh7VCHuf23w6PzigidHBPICBkbc6NGCmFqdsYIGGw3Fg_fx/s320/June+280.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I love these Turquoise earrings but they're large and I haven't worn them yet. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqVn1A2O-Mxzex5OxZEmuef5t8w0nz1zt6NeZEUMIkVowAsq91faF9j-s-bb6EtcdN432AqRrOBAe_Zrrlu9aCReojaGlC_hjU7o7f5tc0dx8e3FCLovXB6KzG93gTMgB_q4CpPS_wV_oy/s1600/June+281.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="288" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqVn1A2O-Mxzex5OxZEmuef5t8w0nz1zt6NeZEUMIkVowAsq91faF9j-s-bb6EtcdN432AqRrOBAe_Zrrlu9aCReojaGlC_hjU7o7f5tc0dx8e3FCLovXB6KzG93gTMgB_q4CpPS_wV_oy/s320/June+281.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And of course, pearls . . . pearls, pearls, everywhere. Pearls are probably among my most favorite. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSg8EN40jZH8HRUshBQ2jRwmYXYsHRF2aSjkTw9Gdq9h0Df-t566BcD2rLVs8p6VpwxXGLj6iYQCtbnPEkbw4T3BmkRM0f1O1kmgrXthjMdLsjBH2gd6UyAsZHmmB0HCaDyg5IAQlet1h3/s1600/June+282.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="314" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSg8EN40jZH8HRUshBQ2jRwmYXYsHRF2aSjkTw9Gdq9h0Df-t566BcD2rLVs8p6VpwxXGLj6iYQCtbnPEkbw4T3BmkRM0f1O1kmgrXthjMdLsjBH2gd6UyAsZHmmB0HCaDyg5IAQlet1h3/s320/June+282.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now I'm off to finish some bigger projects, hopefully - fingers crossed!</div>

I've seen these cute little frame coin purses around the internet and thought I'd give them a whirl. And anyone who knows me, knows that I can't make just one of something. I bought a kit and some frames from a <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/whilebabynaps" target="_blank">great Etsy site</a> and then went to town.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxSzXodgSvj3QgO6UC9fQEPJ-wSvU_UfZDgeYW0rNhshX45EKiFupgQ0Xx9m9lHFESL6I76sG33Vmla32QxrN2ANXZDobmdXvHEEwjQdcwsZ5mNEGmwKH-BnyfkFNZJ3ZzggMHfdG8HMvX/s1600/Purse+01.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="255" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxSzXodgSvj3QgO6UC9fQEPJ-wSvU_UfZDgeYW0rNhshX45EKiFupgQ0Xx9m9lHFESL6I76sG33Vmla32QxrN2ANXZDobmdXvHEEwjQdcwsZ5mNEGmwKH-BnyfkFNZJ3ZzggMHfdG8HMvX/s320/Purse+01.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Most of these will be going to teachers for last day of school thank you gifts - along with some very cute necklaces we made - the boys picked out various rocks and gems from the last gem faire that came to town. This little purse is probably my most favorite - it goes to son #1's teacher.<br />

This little purse is the "kit" that I bought with fabric and instructions and all. They really do work up very quickly.<br />

These next two go to son #2 teachers. <br />

And this one is for me. I love the retro ball frames on these. They come in all sizes - I went with the smallest just to start. It's always nice to have a little something you can grab to put your id, some change, and even a credit card in. <br />

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I came across the yummiest recipe a few weeks ago. So easy and so amazing! We've made it twice in the last two weeks.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This recipe comes from <a href="http://www.chef-in-training.com/2012/06/oreo-fluff/" target="_blank">Chef in Training</a> and is lovingly known as <a href="http://www.chef-in-training.com/2012/06/oreo-fluff/" target="_blank">OREO FLUFF</a>. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I followed her recipe exactly. Think white chocolate pudding, Cool Whip, mini marshmallows, and crushed Oreos. Seriously YUMMY!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We'll be making this again and again really soon! Try it! I dare you!</div>
